Our best selling capital & base, the Tuscan Column bases and caps are a customer favorite. Use with our Round Tapered Fiberglass Columns. They are in keeping with the look and feel of traditional classical architecture. Weatherproof, insect-proof, rot-proof, virtually maintenance free. Exterior or interior use. Use acrylic-latex primer and paint for best results.
The Tuscan Column Bases and Caps are NOT load bearing, but rather act as a decorative sleeve around the column shaft. They do not affect the overall installed height of the column. The effect is that the column looks like it is sitting on the base and cap. We do not recommend they be used with wood columns. A typical wood column would need to sit on a structural column base. Wrapping a wood column with these synthetic bases would invite rot to the bottom of the wood column.

These caps/bases are sized to fit our columns, so you need to check your diameter. It is important that you double check the diameter of your column to make sure they will fit to avoid a return. The customer is responsible for the return shipping and a 20% restocking fee. We want to help you avoid this expense.

If you are buying a base and cap for a column that did not come from American Porch, please double check your column diameter to make sure it will fit. HINT: To get a diameter of your column, you can measure the circumference of your existing column and divide by 3.14.
Materials used in our Tuscan Column Bases and Caps
The column bases is offered in Fiberglass/Polymer Bases (same material as our Fiberglass Polymer Columns). This is a hard stone-like material that will hold up to reasonable abuse.
The column capital is offered in high density Polyurethane foam (same material as our Polyurethane Balustrades).
Other cap/base styles available, i.e. Attic, Doric, Corinthian, Scamozzi, etc., call for quote.
