Shop by Size

Clarify your front porch railing ideas with this handy shop-by-size page.  The categories below are listed by the railing width.  Each of the size categories have the appropriate size spindles, newel posts, and other porch products listed in them, so you can immediately tell what goes together.

Having trouble visualizing how these items go together?  Download the Porch Rail Design Options PDF.  It shows lots of ideas with assembled railing kits with all the different option combinations.

First, you’ll want to determine what size balustrade best fit’s your project.  You may want to start by looking at the 6″ Wood Balustrade or 5 1/2″ Polyurethane Balustrade.  These are very popular, and a good mid-size railing system.  In those categories you’ll find the 3 1/2″ spindle listings.  These listings have TONS of porch railing pictures that can help with your front porch railing ideas.  You’ll be able to quickly decide if you like that size class, or want to go up or down in size.

Once you’ve narrowed it down to a particular size class, the “shop by size” layout makes it very easy to tell what other products are appropriate for that porch railing.

D.Z. of Bernardsville, NJ writes “I was renovating a 1900 four square house in New Jersey. The front porch was salvageable but the stairs and railings had to be rebuilt. I try to be as authentic as possible with my renovations and needed balusters to match the ones on the porch. American Porch had just what I was looking for and the stairs and railings looked as good as the original.”
