These Tapered Craftsman Columns are made of 5/8″ thick cellular PVC. They consist of 4 panels with a miter lock joint that assembles easily and quickly. They ship knocked down (flat) and ready to install. PVC Craftsman columns are low maintenance, rot proof, water proof, and insect proof. This product is not structural and is intended to wrap an existing structural member.
Available in smooth, raised panel, and recessed panel these Craftsman style porch columns fit the Early Modern architectural style very prevalent today.
Raised panel and recessed panel columns have approx. 7 1/2″ of smooth space below the detail to allow up to 6″ field trimming for various heights.
Does this material need to be painted? No, the PVC material itself does not require any painting, however the product may collect dust and appear dirty over time. The PVC surface is smooth but the raised or recessed panel areas have been milled and will be a rougher finish which may collect foreign material. Also, the adhesive used in installation may be collection points for dirt. For these reasons we recommend a finish paint after installation so it will look more finished and be easier to clean and keep clean.
Capital and Base Trim for Craftsman Columns:
The “standard” trim style is most commonly used in this Craftsman type of architecture. The standard cap and base have platforms that add 1″ each (2″ total) to the shaft height, allowing extra flexibility in installation. Tuscan has no platforms and does not add to the height.
