It turned out awesome. The railing kit is amazing. The project took extra time because we decided to also replace some broken flagstone with solid pieces of bluestone tread. The railing was installed this week and final coats of paint are being applied over the next few days. I will be sure to send pics when complete. We are quite proud of it.

I truly love the railing. The newel posts and handrails are solid. Perfectly proportioned beauty, striking in appearance as feeling when your hand rests on it.

Here are a few photos.  Still waiting on mason to show up and complete the stone work, so can send better pictures later.  But here are the columns in their “final resting place”.  The knotty pine paneling  in the ceiling is from the family house we had to take down due to its deteriorated condition.  Adds a nice contract between the siding, and columns/trim work.

Columns arrived in good shape.  They were of good quality and were true in dimension.  Put them in the garage for a couple of weeks due to construction delays.  When we opened the packages and took the columns out for installation, the dust from the manufacturing process went everywhere.  There was a breeze that day and this scattered it around the garage and driveway.  Was not expecting to have this much dust shipped with these.  It seems it was all inside the columns.  Learned the lessons after the first two.  Took them outside to cut and unbox the remaining two.

The fastener system sent with the caps was simple, maybe too light duty for our application.  I fabricated up some more brackets to add to the bottom and top.  We get pretty strong winds through here (we recorded a gust of 78 in October and that day it blew 40 plus MPH all day).  I added more brackets as I don’t want these coming down anytime soon.

My project was a custom stone stair railing I designed and built 20 years ago, requiring a matching newel post to replace a rotted end post.  Your company provided the highest quality cedar, classic style newel I’ve ever purchased, making my repair actually possible; since without a matching post, I’d have had to completely replace the entire unit. The most difficult part was matching the new post color to the old posts, no easy task given the different cedar type and weathering age. I’d recommend your company’s products to anyone and will use them again in the future.

Our project turned out great. The posts worked out perfectly, just what I wanted.  This is our back door. Our home was built around 1900 and has gone through many changes. My husband has lived here all his life and I have been here for 51 years. It previously had a small overhang which we removed when the new siding was installed many years ago and the brick stairs were added. Water had started to collect around the doorway, so we thought a porch roof would help. We contracted a carpenter who constructed it according to our specifications and his suggestions, but he could not find posts which I liked. I found your company through the internet with exactly what I wanted and was happy to find that we could pick them up in PA, only an hour or two from our home.

Just wanted to let you know that the cedar newel post and balusters were perfect! The stairs to our farmers porch are located on the North side of the house and tend to stay wet for long periods after rain. The cedar should last much longer than the previous fir. The match to the existing balusters is good and exemplifies the New England character of our home. I have enclosed a couple photos of the steps.

Adam and Bob were excellent at working with me to put together the right package (not too little, not too much) of balustrades that had the right shape and proportions to compliment the rebuild of our turn-of-the-century Princess Anne porch. They understood that simplicity and style were the order of the day and that the big box stores could not offer what was needed to pull off a spectacular, period correct rebuild. The quality of the finished product was well worth the extra, but not outrageous, cost. Everything needed was shipped to the middle of Iowa complete and in a timely manner with nothing missing.
Our front porch is now the envy of the neighborhood. Can’t wait for the good weather to return. Let the porch parties begin.

This is a great company with an excellent product. Their customer service was excellent. We made some mistakes, a few bad cuts, and they even replaced materials free of charge. (only had to pay for shipping). All items came as described and in good condition. We thought the wood was really good wood.
