Revival, Victorian, and Classic design urethane balusters are reinforced with an aluminum rod. Use with 3 5/8″ Poly Rail System OR the 4 9/16″ Poly Rail System.
What height of urethane baluster do I need?
Using our 3 5/8″ or 4 9/16″ wide Top and Bottom Rails with a 2″ to 4″ toe space, the following rail heights will result:
20″ Spindle: 28″ – 30″ (commonly used for decorative rail or historically grandfathered rails where modern building codes don’t apply)
27″ Spindle: 35 – 37″ (commonly used for decorative stair rail)
28″ Spindle: 36″ – 38″ (commonly used to meet residential codes)
32″ Spindle: 40″ – 42″ (commonly used on residential stair rails or to meet commercial codes)
36″ Spindle: 42″ – 44″ (commonly used on commercial stair rails)
How many balusters do I need?
Take the length of your rail (in inches) and divide by 5″ and round down. Example: 8′ of rail, which is 96″. Take 96 divided by 5 = 19 needed.
The height of the turned portion on this baluster varies according to total height. If you’re using these spindles for both horizontal rails AND stairs, make sure you pair them together with the same turning length:
20″ Baluster: 13″ turning (decorative rails)
27″ Baluster: 13″ turning (decorative stairs)
28″ Baluster: 20″ turning (residential rails)
32″ Baluster: 20″ turning (residential stairs & commercial rails)
36″ Baluster: 20″ turning (commercial stairs)
