Miami University of Ohio commissioned our firm to assist with the historical renovation of a highly visible and important residence on campus. The renovation time period was limited to a very short summer window so timing and accuracy were required to achieve success. It was evident that attention to exact replication of existing spindles was necessary. After a rigorous search of qualified companies throughout the United States we recommended the University contract with Western Spindle for the effort. Western Spindle developed the spindles to the exact required specifications and delivered them on time and on budget.

After looking all over for wooden spindles to replace some that had rotted out on our front porch, I was about to give up – woodworking shops could not replicate the spindles I had, and the original manufacturer was no longer in business. Western Spindle was able to replicate my spindles exactly through a “casting” process using polyurethane (I think). In any event, the new spindles are installed and look great, and will no doubt outlive the existing wooden spindles. Great job and easy to work with. Reasonably priced as well for this type of time-intensive custom work.

I am a professional builder focused on old house remodeling and reproduction carpentry. I have worked with Western Spindle to provide porch railings and spindles for 4 large (greater than 50 linear feet) and 1 small exterior porch project in the Pittsburgh area.  I’ve used both his stock shapes and have had him reproduce shapes that I have provided.

After trying other vendors over the years both online and locally, I have settled on Western Spindle as my go to guy.  [Their] customer support is great, Profiles are well designed and authentic, shipping packaging perfect, and product is truly beyond compare. This is the only company that I will use for porch rail.

Outstanding spindles perfectly matched to 120 year-old ones, excellent quality, primer painted and fit/size. I have no complaint. Handrails very nicely made, excellent quality, primer painted.
I would use Western Spindle again. They do outstanding work at a fair price.

Western Spindle collaborated with us on the reconstruction of a Victorian Porch for a very fussy customer. They supplied turned spindles, stock railing and custom railing components. They communicated well, sent us the drawings we requested, agreed to make custom moldings, and promptly revised their quote when we made design changes. They informed us quickly us when an increase in sales caused an anticipated one-week delay in production and we received the shipment a few days before the revised schedule. When the truck arrived it was obvious that the shipment had had a rough journey. Fortunately, Western Spindle had done an outstanding job of packaging the goods and there was no damage. The project results were outstanding.

I had western spindle make 2 custom newel posts, and five balusters to my design and also some top and bottom railings. I was completely happy with their work, the materials were of the highest quality
